Natural Anti Ageing Therapies: Why Should You prefer them?

Natural Anti Ageing Therapies: Why Should You prefer them?

We all would love to stay young forever and getting old is one of our major concerns. This area naturally is of great interest to the cosmetic industry that claims to reverse the signs of ageing through various age reversal treatments. However, ageing is a natural phenomenon and an intrinsic feature of life. There is a variety of anti-aging therapies available in the market.  We often place our confidence in the claims made by the manufacturer. Many people even get ready to go under the knife to reverse the damage caused due do ageing.  However, it is important to understand that not all therapies that claim to reverse the signs of ageing are safe.

In this article we have highlighted how   popular age reversal treatments work and some of the risks associated with them. This will help you to take a conscious decision before opting for any of the anti-aging therapies

1. Anti-Ageing Hormones Are Not Proven To Be Effective Yet

Hormones are the chemicals secreted in our body and are involved in various physiological functions such as metabolism, immune function, sexual reproduction, and growth. Some hormones especially the human grow hormones, progesterone in men, and oestrogen in women decrease as we age.

Although several age reversal therapies claim that hormonal therapy, can reverse the signs of ageing, to date no research has confirmed this. Our body maintains the right balance of hormone naturally. However, when you decide to take extra hormones just to look younger, you surely create an artificial imbalance that body cannot cope with. Your body may actually react to it causing some undesired effects.

2. Laser Resurfacing Therapy Can Cause Serious Side Effects

Use of laser therapy is one of the most popularly used treatments to get rid of signs of ageing such as wrinkles and pigmentation. Laser resurfacing treatment has been shown to be effective in reducing the signs of ageing through processes such as dermal layer remodeling, collagen stimulation, regeneration of cellular materials, etc . However, along with its benefits laser treatment may also cause some serious side effects, such as persistent erythema, hypo- or hyperpigmentation, infection or scarring.

3. Botulin is a Costly Affair

Botulinum toxin (BTX) can neither improve the texture of skin nor can it prevent the skin ageing process. However, regular BTX injections can slow down the visible signs of skin ageing such as facial lines and fine wrinkles. However, administration of Botulin is very critical. It needs thorough understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the muscles and possible alterations in skin that may occur. So, obviously it has to be done through extremely skilled and professional hands and that’s makes it a costly affair.

4. Skin Rejuvenation – Chemical Peeling Needs a Long Recovery Time

Chemical peeling is becoming increasingly popular for the treatment of skin rejuvenation where it can improve damaged skin and fine wrinkles.  Chemical peeling removes the top layers of skin so that the new skin that grows back is younger-looking. However chemical peeling is a type of chemosurgery and so there are risks associated with this procedure as with other surgical procedures. Chemical peel may result in scarring and infections. Deep chemical peels that are used to correct severe damage or heavy wrinkles require a longer recovery period within which it is extremely dangerous to get sun exposure.

Before trying any of these therapies first make sure to have a healthy lifestyle, be physically active, eat right food and manage your stress. You may opt for some natural therapies that reverse the signs of skin ageing and these include facials, body wraps and polishes. For better results look for therapies that use highest quality natural ingredients with anti-ageing properties. If you are looking for a best spa in Mumbai that offers age reversal treatment with natural ingredients, you can try Age Reversal Programme offered at Four Fountains De-stress spa in Mumbai.

Not Sleeping Well Can Cause Frequent Colds, Reveals New Research

Not Sleeping Well Can Cause Frequent Colds, Reveals New Research

How often do you miss important events because you have stuffy nose and all you want to do is roll up in bed and get some good sleep. But had you been sleeping well each night, you would not suffer from colds at all. Does that sound very confusing or something that you cannot co-relate? But that is exactly what the latest study conducted by the scientists from US reports. According to this new study people who sleep less than 5 hours at are 4.5 times more likely to suffer from cold and infections than those who sleep well for about 7 hours.

For the study the scientists involved 164 healthy people and tracked their sleep schedule for about one week. All the participants were asked to record the times at which they went to bed and woke up. The participants were also asked to put a special digital wrist device that could sense the movement during sleep. Movement beyond a certain point was automatically recorded as wakefulness and considered as disturbed sleep.

After a week the same participants were given nose drops containing rhinovirus to induce infection. All the participants then lived in the same environment so that their immune system could work and can be analysed later.

On examining the participants the scientists found that chances of catching cold were highest among people who slept less than 5 hours and lowest among people who slept for more than 7 hours.

This study clearly indicates that people who sleep well are likely to have a better immunity than those who sleep less. Many people tend to sacrifice their sleep in order to manage their hectic work life. However, sleep deprivation clearly has its own health risks. If you have been having health issues due to lack of sleep and are in search of healthy ways to sleep better, you should try Aromatherapy Massage. 5 Biological Factors that Affect Your Skin Glow

5 Biological Factors that Affect Your Skin Glow

A soft, glowing skin is a symbol of good systemic health. Skin is the largest organ in the body that plays a vital role of protecting the internal organs from external environment. People who have a shiny, healthy and glowing skin tend to have a good impression on others. Conversely, people who have dull or darker looking skin have low self-esteem and constantly have to struggle to find some new tips for glowing skin. Stressful lifestyle makes many people have skin issues such as, hyperpigmentation, brown spots, or dark dull looking skin. However, part from stress and other external factors such as pollution or sun exposure, some physiological changes that occur inside the body are also responsible for making the skin look dull and lifeless. Here are 5 Biological factors that affect your skin glow.

1. Vitamin Deficiency

Vitamins B complex and C, play a vital role in maintaining healthy skin. Vitamin C is responsible for production of protein called collagen, which gives skin its elasticity. People who have deficiency of vitamin C tend to have dry, dull and sagging skin. Deficiency of vitamin B-9 (folic acid) and B-12 (cobalamin) can cause pigmentation problems leading to patchy skin. Deficiencies of vitamins that occurs due to reduced intake of vegetables and fresh fruits can therefore make you skin appear dull and dark.

2. Hormonal Changes

Hormonal changes mainly affect women, in phases such as pregnancy or menopause. Fluctuating levels of female hormones progesterone and Oestrogen stimulate melanocytes to produce more melanin, a pigment that imparts colour to the skin. Accumulation of melanin at specific areas on skin lead to a skin condition called melisma, which is characterised by dark patches or uneven colour distribution on skin.

 3. Excessive Iron deposition

Iron supplements can cause skin darkening to a certain extent. Although iron is necessary for many important physiological functions, too much iron accumulation can affect organs such as liver and skin. Excess iron in the body is responsible for causing for hypermelanosis (excess production of skin pigment melanin).

4. Excess Melanin Production

When the body produces excess melanin it leads to hyperpigmentation. This can happen due to some illnesses or factors such as sun exposure. Prolonged sun exposure can cause spots with excess pigment deposition known as lentigines. The solar lentigines mostly are observed on areas that are frequently exposed to the sun, such as the hands and face. Certain skin disorder or injuries can also cause post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and make the skin appear darker.

5.  Acne or Pimple Marks

Acne is one of the most distressing skin conditions. It is even more upsetting to see the stubborn dark marks each acne or pimple leaves behind. The acne marks are actually a type of post-inflammation pigmentation. The dark spots worsen when you try to break or squeeze the acne.

If you are having dull and dry skin and wondering for acne treatment, you can try skin whitening treatment, offered at Four Fountains De-Stress Spa. The skin whitening programme offered at the spa includes different types of facials, body wraps and body polishes that make use of high quality natural ingredients to make your skin glow.

Tiredness and Low Energy: Are You Eating The Right Food?

Tiredness and Low Energy: Are You Eating The Right Food?

Do you see the marathon runners and wonder where do they get the stamina and energy from?

If you ask yourself, do you think you can reach the office on the 8th floor on time if there was no elevator? In today’s modern world it is very easy to see young people complain of tiredness, low energy and stamina. Most of us cannot run, jump or even exercise for more than 30 minutes without grasping for breath. How did we come to this stage, when our forefathers could actually walk for distances carrying heavy loads every day without any tiredness?

It is natural to get tired after a heavy physical work that needs high energy expenditure. However, we tend to get tired even after a little physical exertion such as climbing stairs or standing for long hours. Find out why you get tired physically when in mental stress. Before, we move on to make any conclusions about our physical inabilities causing tiredness, lets divert our attention to some other aspect of our lifestyle. Did you know that poor diet can also lead to low energy and stamina? Here are 6 dietary habits that could be hampering your energy and stamina.

Skipping Meals

Many people have this common misconception that skipping meals can reduce their calorie intake and help to lose weight. However, skipping meal is an extremely unhealthy habit. Without adequate supply of calorie at frequent intervals, body feels low on energy. Since the blood sugar levels drop, you may feel mentally exhausted or tired.

Eating Processed Food

Processed foods are packed with salt, sugar and preservatives. Studies have reported that consumption of diet that contains too much added sugar especially the artificial sweeteners can make your lethargic.

Junk Foods

High calorie foods that contain too much of saturated fats tend to slow the functioning of brain.

More Than 4 Cups of Coffee in Per Day

Caffeine is a brain stimulant, but only when consumed in moderate quantity. Clinical evidence suggests that more than 4 cups of coffee in a day is hazardous to health. Coffee stimulates the adrenal glands to produce adrenaline which prepares your body to get into “flight or fight” situation. However, the body does not need to get into this mode while you are just sitting at your desk and sipping coffee. So, the adrenaline in the body remains unused at this situation, however, it affects the body later and drops the energy levels.

Too much Alcohol Consumption

Many people are misinformed that one glass of drink can help them forget tensions and get good sleep. However, alcohol actually raises the levels of epinephrine, a stress hormone that can result in night time awakenings. Disturbed sleep at night can lead to tiredness and lethargy during the day. In addition, alcohol can affect the adrenal glands and lead to adrenal fatigue.

Restrictive Eating

People have different likings and choices for food items. Furthermore, the popularity of diet plans such as low-fat, low-carbs, raw foods etc. leads to consumption of very specific food classes. Our body needs right amount nutrition from all food groups such as good fats, vitamins, carbohydrates, protein etc. as energy sources. However, restrictive dieting makes the body deprived of important nutrients and can lead to low energy, lethargy and tiredness.

Missing Iron-Rich food

Iron is an essential micronutrient that carries oxygen throughout the body. Deficiency of iron can make you look pale, have low energy and stamina.

Wondering how to get over tiredness? Try Foot Reflexology at Four Fountains De-Stress Spa. Foot reflexology procedure consists of applying pressure to the reflex points by special hand and finger techniques. The stimulation of reflex points on our feet provides relief from stress, reduces pain perception and causes certain physiological changes in the body that helps to get rid of fatigue and tiredness.
